UHHS Partners with National Campaign

Posted 3-16-2010

UHHS recently joined the Home Health Quality Improvement (HHQI) National Campaign funded by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. This national movement's goal is to improve the quality of care home health patients receive, as measured by a reduction of avoidable hospitalizations and improved management of medications in the home.

Over the next year, UHHS will be addressing several areas that affect quality of care and patient outcomes including reducing acute care hospitalizations, medication management, fall prevention, working and aligning with other health care providers & communication, chronic care, and telehealth.

"The above areas are all big issues in health care today. Home care is pivotal in addressing all of these and can really make a difference in improving patients' quality of life. A national improvement in these areas would help reign in ever-increasing Medicare expenditures", states UHHS President Penny Rhein. "Our voluntary participation in this campaign showcases our commitment to the highest quality home care possible!"
